Dylan Garcia is an acclaimed fine art photographer and visual artist whose atmospheric work brings landscape, mythology and the climate crisis into compelling conversation.

Based in southern England, Dylan draws inspiration from the philosophy and visual richness of the Victorian Aesthetic Movement. His work echoes the ideas of Oscar Wilde, William Morris and Dante Gabriel Rossetti, transforming British foliage, tropical plants and ancient stone ruins into haunting reflections on beauty, nature and environmental change.

In [*Brythonic*](https://www.dylangarcia.art/store/p/brythonic-photobook?ref=thecriticalloop.com), his 2024 photographic book, Dylan reveals how ancient myths can speak urgently to humanity’s increasingly precarious relationship with the natural world, using folklore to mirror modern civilisation’s response to climate change and rising sea levels.

The book’s physical form carries this idea beyond the photographs. *Brythonic* is hand-stitched and printed using soluble ink. Each copy is accompanied by a photographic print designed to disappear when submerged in water. This deliberate impermanence transforms the publication into part of the artwork, reminding us that landscapes, cultural memory and the objects through which stories survive can all be altered or erased by water. In the context of a project concerned with ancient floods, rising seas and environmental loss, disappearance is not simply represented; it is built into the work itself.

[*Brythonic*](https://www.dylangarcia.art/store/p/brythonic-photobook?ref=thecriticalloop.com) has received exceptional international recognition. Copies have been acquired by some of the world’s most prestigious cultural institutions, including Tate, [the National Art Library at the V&A Museum](https://nal-vam.on.worldcat.org/search/detail/1474542679?queryString=Dylan%20Garcia&idDetect=true&citeDetect=true&clusterResults=false&groupVariantRecords=false&bookReviews=off&ref=thecriticalloop.com), the British Library, the Getty Museum in Los Angeles and the Hasselblad Foundation in Sweden.

Dylan holds a BA in Graphics (Photography) from Norwich School of Art and an MA in Photography from Falmouth University. He is an Associate of the [Royal Photographic Society (ARPS)](https://rps.org/qualifications/associate/?ref=thecriticalloop.com) and a member of the [Oxfordshire Visual Arts Development Agency (OVADA)](https://www.ovada.org.uk/blog/ovada-associates-feature-artist-dylan-garciahttps://rps.org/qualifications/associate/https://www.lensculture.com/dylan-garcia?ref=thecriticalloop.com).
