Travis Gilly is the Executive Director of the Real Safety AI Foundation (realsafetyai.org), a nonprofit working on AI harm prevention and disability civil rights. His work spans disability rights law, AI-induced psychosis, machine learning, AI ethics, and more.

Based in Illinois (USA), he's curious about almost everything, and what turns that curiosity into a project is a gap: a claim about everyone that doesn't hold for someone. His focus is on the people who those claims miss. Most often, these are disabled people, children, and older adults, the ones least able to avoid harm or even know it's happening to them.

As a disabled person himself and as a caregiver for two people with serious mental illness, Travis knows that gap firsthand. He states that harm doesn't have a home. It shows up in policy, research, the media, schools, companies and nonprofits alike, public opinion, and even what gets called settled fact. Travis keeps very few rules, and the main one is to expose the harm wherever it shows up.
